Hearing God’s Voice – Day 1 of 75 Days

Scripture Read: Psalms 1, 2

Key Verse: Psalm 1:2

2but his delight is in the law of the LORD,  and on his law he meditates day and night.

Observation:

Who we listen to is important to God.  We should listen to Him because he loves us the most.  People who do not have our best interest in mind should not be consulted and better yet they should be ignored.  The picture painted for me through this Psalm is to be a strong tree that lives off the soil replenished by the water running next to it.  God’s presence seems to be a peaceful place.

Application:

I need to be a man of the Word, meditating on it, listening for God’s blessing, his pictures and his warnings. Why is it that I find myself listening to others and caring more what they think about me more than what God thinks about me?  I need to tune my whole being to the Holy Spirit that I can hear him clearly.  I must set aside specific time every day this summer to hear God’s voice in a clear way so I can just be his son.  Not his pastor, husband, or any other title the world would give me.  I just need to be his child and listen for his approval, correction and his love.

Prayer:

Lord help me to be one who hears your voice clearly.  Please continue to speak to me and show me your deep friendship for me.  Thank you for the cross, forgiveness, my family and my church family whom I love so much.  You know I am a broken man who fails and calls out to you for forgiveness.  Help me to live forgiven and give me a clear vision for what it is you want for me.  Lord, enlarge our vision, bring us the harvest and heal people deeply this summer.  Thanks for trusting me and for calling me to follow you.  Increase my faith and help me to “Be The Tree”

  1. Psalm 1
My meditation on God, with God is what will secure me, nurture me, enable me to grow and have strong roots that will hold me steadfast through the storms and enable me to grow froit in God’s seasons of my life.

  2. I spent time in Psalm 2:12. God just lays it out there for us to choose which side we are on. Am I going to rise against the Son who God placed on the throne raise his anger against me and watch my plains perish or am I going follow him accept his refuge and be blessed. It is a daily act of will to kiss the Son and submit to his will for me. It’s silly how often I would rather stand up and shake my fist at him and say I am doing this my way. I mean really He is God. He loves me and He has my best interests at heart whatever happens.

  3. When I look at verse 3: ” like a tree planted by the waters” it reminds me of the phrase “rooted and grounded in God’s Word” and how much peace that enables me to find in life. Theres a security from having His promises hidden in my heart as the Holy Spirit reminds me of just the right Word, at just the right time.
